The majority of them has been isolated from naturally fermented Greek traditional foods. Additionally, type strains along with several reference strains obtained from other collections, are deposited as well.

The ACA-DC collection is a member of the European Culture Collection Organization (ECCO) and the World Federation of Culture Collections (WFCC). In 2010, the Collection was nominated for the European Latsis Prize “Biodiversity”.
